Research shows that for healthy, low-risk pregnancies, midwife-led care is associated with fewer interventions while maintaining positive outcomes for mothers and babies. But beyond the numbers, I believe there is something incredibly valuable about relationship-centered care: having a provider who knows your story, understands your values, and supports you in making informed decisions for your family.
At Homebirth Haven KC, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, educated, supported, and respected. I want you to understand your options, feel confident asking questions, and know that your voice matters throughout your care.
From your first visit through those precious early weeks with your baby, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassionate, evidence-based care that honors both your family and your values.
Prenatal care beginning around 10 weeks.
Your prenatal care will begin with informed consent regarding initial labs, a thorough medical and obstetrical history review, and listening to your baby with a doppler. You will then be seen monthly until 28 weeks, every other week until 36 weeks, then weekly until your birth. During your prenatal care, I am intentional about watching for "normal". When things veer outside of normal and can no longer be managed safely at home, you can expect an informed decisioin-making conversation about next steps.
Postpartum Care up to 6 weeks, not just once at 6 weeks.
Your postpartum care begins immediately after your birth and continues at 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks. I am very intentional with each visit, ensuring that both you and your baby are adjusting well and healing. I am also very intentional about monitoring for postpartum depression and helping you through that. You can expect for the first three postpartum visits to be done in your home, while the last two are done in the clinic.
